Objective: To determine if there is an association between maternal practices on complementary feeding and anemia in children 6-24 months of age. Material and methods: An analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out in which 185 children from 6 to 24 months of age were included, using selection criteria that were divided into the presence or absence of childhood anemia, based on chi-square and the prevalence ratio statistician. Results: It was obtained that the frequency of child malnutrition, acute diarrheal disease and maternal anemia were significantly higher in the group of patients with child anemia (p<0.05), inadequate maternal practices on complementary feeding are associated with anemia in children aged 6- 24 months of age with a PR of 3.83 being significant with the value of p<0.05, within the multivariate analysis the variables inadequate eating practices, infant malnutrition, acute diarrheal disease and maternal anemia were identified as factors associated with infant anemia. Conclusion: there is an association between inadequate maternal practices on complementary feeding and anemia in children 6-24 months of age.
