Abstract

Introduction: Bartonella Henselae is a gram-negative bacterium that lives in cats that come into direct contact with feces and bites from infected fleas. Case report: A 5-year-old boy presented with prolonged fever and painful lymphadenopathy on the right side of his face. The diagnosis was confirmed by indirect immunofluorescence testing for IgM and IgG antibodies against Bartonella Henselae. Discussion: The clinical presentation was consistent with a case of cat scratch disease, exhibiting its typical clinical manifestations. The patient's recovery was long, favorable, and without sequelae, as described in the literature. Conclusion: This case highlights the high incidence of prolonged febrile illnesses in the Tumbes Region and the lack of laboratory methods for their timely diagnosis.
