This study analyzes the emergence of postmaterialist values in Latin American urban contexts, with an emphasis on generational change and its sociopolitical implications. Using a quantitative approach, 800 adults in three Mexican cities were surveyed using Inglehart's postmaterialism index, along with sociodemographic and political participation variables. The results reveal that 20.3% of respondents have postmaterialist orientations, a trend mainly associated with young people with higher education and greater non-conventional political participation. Multinomial logistic regression confirms that age, educational level, and political participation are significant predictors of postmaterialism, while institutional trust does not show a relevant influence. The findings support the hypothesis of generational change in values and suggest that, although incipient, post-materialism is linked to citizen demands for greater transparency, inclusion, and new forms of democratic participation. It is concluded that this phenomenon represents an ongoing cultural transformation that could reconfigure the relationship between citizens and institutions in the region.
