A 5-year-old mixed-race Hispanic female patient arrived at a health center on the right bank of the river in Tumbes, Peru, with throat discomfort for three days, without fever. She was diagnosed with acute pharyngitis, and during evaluation a bifid uvula was detected without apparent complications. She was referred to a hospital with a higher resolution response to confirm the diagnosis of uvula bifida and evaluate its association with other anomalies that could compromise her health. Two weeks later she was evaluated in the gastroenterology and otorhinolaryngology services of the Regional Hospital JAMO II-2, where it was confirmed that it was a type C bifid uvula without syndromic association or complications. However, a mild nasal voice was also observed. Early detection of orofacial anomalies is crucial to assess potential complications, as well as to allow for appropriate treatment and follow-up.
